Name: Kai Hoang

Age: 25

Height: 6’3”

Story: Taking care of his family since he was little, Kai always felt the pressure of being the breadwinner of the family. Unfortunately, his father got ill and passed away.. they couldn’t afford the medical care. Little Kai didn’t get to do much fun stuff during his childhood like normal people. Instead, he helped his Vietnamese mother— who barely spoke English— run her sweets shop just two blocks down from their house. He worked as a translator and basically whatever else he could. During his breaks, he played around with tools, using them as instruments instead. His mother was always listening to the loud, terrible music.. but encouraged him to keep going. Day by day, Kai got better with the drumming of the screwdrivers. He was growing fast. She knew she couldn’t keep him here forever, so she gave him an envelope filled with some money from her savings, and told him to follow his heart. Mrs Hoang lives with a caretaker, but she watches her son on TV any chance she gets.
